Where it went wrong

You are born. The first thing one notices is how fair or dark your skin is. You are blessed by the old and the young. You are given a name. You are given a religion.
If you are lucky you are brought up quite well where-in your diet includes all the proteins and vitamins. You are not the victim of undernourishment. Your career and education is pre-determined. You are admitted to a good school, where you are taught everything the text-books prescribed. If you have a good memory, then you are in the category of ‘bright & intelligent’ students. Otherwise you fall in the “dumb” category.

You are grown into a charming gentle-man/woman.  Man Vs Women – Yes, time for segregation. Man is entitled to certain roles and Women entitled to certain other.
You are married. If you are a Man you are the Owner, you are the Head, you are the major Breadwinner, and you are the Decision-Maker.  And, if you are a woman you are the slave. You do as ordered. You give up your passions, your friends and your own self. His friends are your friends. Your kid’s friend’s moms are your friends. His party is your party. Your kid’s friends party is your party. His taste buds are your taste-buds and your kids taste-buds are your taste-buds.

Life moves on… your hair turns pepper-salt. Your children move out from your clutches. You feel lonely. Social media comes in as your rescuer. You learn about it, you connect with your school friends, and college friends. You learn to enjoy another world. You have plenty of chat-mates. You forget yourself. You upload your pictures. Friend’s comment-‘hey you look beautiful’. You start wondering am I? You can’t believe it. You begin to dress-up in bright colors. For a moment you forget about all others in your home. You begin to enjoy life. You are in a state of ecstasy. You are attracted to few male and female friends. You attend plenty of get-together parties. You have your circle of friends and outings. You stop depending emotionally on your family.
A twist! Your husband and kids raise their eye-brows. They are quite puzzled. You lose your balance. You are more focused on your own self, your independence and your identity.
Your husband and kids change their stance. They begin missing you. They long for your presence . They begin commenting on your looks, your outfits and exclaims on your confidence and pleasant appearance.
Readers, did something go wrong somewhere?
Ponder and find out!

  1. Life situations in a nutshell… From a woman’s perspective- nothing wrong in having a perspective!
But when men are given, even if sarcastically, the responsibility of winning the bread and making the decisions; the writing seems a bit harsh on us. So standing up for our ‘race’!
In the same breath let it be made clear that it is important for women of your calibre to voice the concerns that hamper the progress of women folk…

  2. In today’s time, this doesn’t happen everywhere. But yes sadly, at least in India still many such places are there where women are considered of lower capacity than of men, and are not given the rights and enjoyment that they (women) deserve.

  3. Hi. Hello. I just started my new blog, and obviously, I’m having a hard time editing my page, I am new to all these stuff so I hope that you can show me the ropes, and hopefully, I’ll get the hang of it, I read all your recent blogs and I gotta say, you are one hell of a writer, and that really amazes me because, I am an aspiring writer as well, I am not that good but I am learning everyday, and I would really like it if people would share how they think of my writings, or to be able to have an audience and make people appreciate that it’s okay to be weird and different. I hope that we can be friends and learn from each other. Thank you! I hope to read more of your posts. I will definitely follow your Page and I hope you can follow me back. Thank you!
